Do your zodiac sign traits describe your personality?
Yes, i believe that every single one of the traits associated with my zodiac sign describes my personality to the "T". Its almost like the person that does this knows me as an individual and not only as a group or statistic. Its often sometimes to just drop by and check on my horoscope. Most of the time its dead on especially on my birthday's and on days when i feel down. It always promises hope to better days in many ways i appreciate my zodiac sign.
A text that caused you to drastically change your thinking
A text that caused me to drastically change my thinking would be a film that was viewed and discussed in my english class. Fear & Learning at Hoover Elementary. I caused my to change my thinking because as a teacher i wouldn't turn a soul down from learning especially not a child, its a very irrational mind that could turn down anyone that wants to learn. As a future teacher that film opened my eyes to many prejudices within the teaching structure as well as outside that structure and teaching would allow my to change the thinking of others as well as myself.
From what do you learn more: films or text? Why?
I believe that i learn more from films. I can say that I learn more from films because I am more of a visual learner. Text can be helpful because it allows room for the truth to be told and with films the truth can be bent slightly. Films are everywhere I learn better from films because the attract more attention than the most interesting books in my opinion. I think a reason why i learn more from films is not only because I am more of a visual learner but because It makes things easier to remember through my person mental abilities. In my class i will promote both films and text because its possible to enjoy learning via both forms of media.
US Education: falling behind?
I believe in so many ways that education with the youth in my age group is so indifferent. A few things that has drawn me to this conclusion is peer pressure. If one of your friends doesn't want to do something its a very likely chance that you will not do that same thing just to be accepted. In my opinion its past fitting in its conformity and its making education fall behind, so far behind that it might not be able to pick up. In english class we viewed a film, "Fear & Learning at Hoover Elementary." This would most likely be the cause of students to drop out, give up, say F*** it and quit. Denying children education, students dropping out and teachers that don't care about their careers are what is making education fall behind. Education is not dead we can pick it up.
Thoughts on plagiarism
I don't believe in plagiarism, but its always easy to fall into the trap of plagiarism. I have more than once been caught in this trap but classes in English have helped my learn to not plagiarize but to just cite your work and it would be easier to get past this. I would love to have more training to avoid this in the future, we can have more classes to train our youth. With the rise of technology will it be easier to plagiarize, just because you have the technology right in your hands but some websites cant be trusted.
Is there a difference between racism and classicism?
I think there is a difference between racism and classicism, but the difference is quite thin. Classicism has been here since the beginning of the foundation of the united states, back when the u.s. was just starting off. Classicism was just basically what family you came from and how much money you have, now the same thing thing applies to people and its still popular in today's society. Racism is what we see today how my skin color is different from yours so you maybe better than myself, but this is not the case at all. I see how the two are the same just in reasons that because of your skin color you are thought to have more money which would put you in a better class.
What is the solution to homelessness in the US?
I believe the solution to homelessness in america is to take some of the taxes that we already pay and make sure that it goes to people that cant help themselves. Get some people that have to do swap as a requirement and make them work kitchens for their service learning hours. I think its not impossible to help i just think that people are so self consumed that they cant put themselves aside for one damn day to help someone who isn't them. If there was anything i could do to help them i would. The solution to homelessness in the u.s. is the u.s. we can only help ourselves.
The end of books as we know them?
As of now we are entering the future of technology. Im in college and almost every piece of work that i turn in is online. My math class has that book online and im not saying that this a bad thing. I guess by the world trying to go green that with electronic books we save paper and save trees. Now we have the ipad, books are a thing of the past and may change literature as we know it. I really don't enjoy reading but this makes it harder with a strain on my eyes from the glare of the screen.
The US and Neocolonialism
The country and the very land which we stand on now was founded off of neocolonialism and its still very easy to use in today's society. I don't think its right that the u.s. can do this because if thats the case then every single place our technology comes from can take the u.s. over. Not because there technology is better, not because they have a bigger population but because they can. I feel this is what the u.s. did to establish themselves and start the new world off in debit. I honestly don't believe in neocolonialism but this is still effective in today's society.
